I would like to have one of BMW’s i-Series. I’m not even choosy about which one – either i3 or i8. The reason I am obsessed with this funky new marque from BMW isn’t that I am obsessively green and they are among the most environmentally-friendly cars out there, although that is a bonus as well. No, the reason is their blue trim.
You see, every time I see an i on the road with its blue grille surrounds, or rocker accent lines, i think that it is that protective plastic that manufacturers put on their products to prevent nicks and scratches before it gets into your hands. The prospect of peeling that protective plastic off is one of life’s great joys and with a BMW i that anticipation would always be present. It would be wonderful.

Except for a ride home from the dealership in an i3 one day (an underwhelming experience) I’ve never seen an i3 or i8 on the road. Where do you live?
For what it’s worth, I’m in Toronto, and I tend to see a couple of i8’s a week (I probably see slightly more i3’s, but the 8 stands out).
In LA you can’t swing a dead cat but hit an i3. I see an i8 about once a week.
I’ve always wondered, who exactly is running around swinging dead cats?

dud i totally know what you mean, it’s like when people get tires with white letters out and the shops doesn’t wash all the blue off. an now all these appliances and computers have that film too, room for much more fun.
First off, the iSeries cars are not a marque. BMW is a Marque. Merkur was a Marque, and XR4ti was a model range within the marque. See how that works?
Second, go for it. I don’t know why, but knock yourself out. BMW is still dead to me.
Third, I’ve ridden in an i3. It’s a car. I really don’t have any other impressions of it.
Many people I’ve known I have noticed squinting at their cell phone (pre-smart phone era) because the scratch protector from the factory was so scratched up they couldn’t see through it. I think that’s why they started dying it blue, so you’d know it was supposed to come off.
As I type this, I’m sitting near a 15 year old couch with so many ‘fabric protectors’ (sheets, tablecloths) on it no one can remember what the couch looks like.
When my work issued a Note III when they were new, I left the screen protector on for months, mostly because I didn’t want to be responsible for damaging the thing, and I was too cheap to buy my own case.
For almost a decade, I have exclusively been buying IP67 certified cell phones. The reason for that is that I see them as utility devices and I would never have the patience to be so thoughtful with them. My current S4 Active has been on at least three different, unplanned underwater experiences and it still works fine. Gorilla glass works!
We got a new whiteboard in at work, and for some reason, it was impossible to write on (except when I used a Sharpie, not realizing it wouldn’t wipe off). Then we realized we were writing on the plastic protective sheet.
Sharpie will come off actual whiteboards, it just takes soap and water.
When the Motorola RAZR came out, there were a bunch of threads on the forums about the “blue M” falling off after a few weeks, revealing a shiny silver M. (I may have started one of these threads)

Been a busy week for me. Glad we made it to the weekend. I’ve got a bunch of racing videos queued up from Indycar, Stadium Supertrucks, NASCAR, and WoO. Very exciting.
The first time I saw blue trim on a car, I thought, “lousy dealer prep”. Then I realized that it was supposed to be that way.
The joy of plastic peeling! It’s something, isn’t it? Of course, I like to peel dried glue off of stuff, too.
Trying to resell some of the 1:43 models I recently ordered from CK Models, I found that the Dacia and Tatra showed up on the Invoice and Shipping list – but they weren’t in the package! Wow…messy. And I didn’t even notice before going through the list.

We like our i3 (like not love) but chose orange paint so as not to have the silly blue stripes that mean its green…
Yay or nay?
Yay!
That looks quite nice.
Body wise, I mean. Early Rover electricals are not nice.
I looked inside. The dashboard fuse box was open and there were fuses on the front seat.
Burning it that close to the tress might deplete the total cost/benefit analysis.
