A yellow Diablo is the quintessential Lamborghini Diablo. I believe it to be the signature colour for them, and this 1994 Diablo VT wears it well. Toy cars, poster Diablos, every one that captured the eye of a ten-year-old kid in the mid-’90s was yellow.
Complete with telephone dial wheels framed by bolts, with the rear wheelarch featuring the trademark Gandini angle, it’s the kind of Diablo in the mental image I draw in my head when someone mentions a Lamborghini Diablo.
For me, Diablos are also forever linked with Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay, as the British pop-funk band’s frontman liked his Diablos. Not that the video for Cosmic Girl didn’t feature a bunch of rivalling cars, too.
From this angle, it blows my mind we’re looking at a production car and not one of the cars from last weekend’s palette of concepts.
By this point, the interiors were a more cohesive effort than on the Countachs. Still, the Diablo did evolve further and by the time VAG got their hands on the company, Diablos got Audi switchgear inside. 300ZX headlights were an another thing completely…
The firing order for the 5.7-litre, 499hp engine is proudly displayed on top. The VT model is phenomenal in the sense that it introduced four-wheel-drive in the Diablo, VT standing for Viscous Traction.
The front wheels could get up to 25% of available power.
The 65 000km / 40 000 mile 1994 Diablo VT here is being offered for sale by Lamborghini Kremer in Bonn, Germany.
