Hoonivercinema- Monday Music Video

Coming out of the hard core punk hotbed that was Philadelphia in the early eighties, the Dead Milkmen established themselves as a less serious alternative to anti-establishment bands like the Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains and Black Flag. They initially gained college radio cred with Bitchin’ Camaro, an ode to entitlement and irresponsibility. Their big break came however with the release of Beezlebubba and the single Punk Rock Girl, the video of which garnered heavy rotation on MTV.

The song is a bit of a South Philly travelogue, and while not strictly a car video, it does have a cool Rambler wagon near the end. Check out all the satirical nihilism after the jump.

  1. People like this are a big part of the reason I love the area I live in. They are not uncommon.

  2. Fun band. I won radio station tickets to see them at the Pep Lounge in NYC back when.

  3. Mojo Nixon is/was a DJ on the classic rock station in San Diego. "The Loooon in the Afternoooooon".
Oddly enough when the "new" alternative station started up there around 2003, they played this and "Bitchin' Camaro" over and over, but no other Dead Milkmen songs. Awesome at first, tiresome after a while.

    1. Mojo's still using that tagline in his current DJ gig on Sirius/XM's Outlaw Country station.

  4. I got to see them in Columbus once! they were not this young, man they look like babies in that video.
    Sweet wagon.

  5. You'll dance to anything by the Communards
You'll dance to anything by Book of Love
You'll dance to anything by The Smiths
You'll dance to anything by Depeche Mode
You'll dance to anything by Public Image Limited
You'll dance to anything by Naked Truth
You'll dance to anything by any bunch of stupid Europeans
Who come over here with their big hairdos
Intent on taking our money instead of giving your cash
Where it belongs, to a decent American artist like myself!
    (damn, I'm getting old…)
