Here's a handful of Nürburgring oddities captured driving on the Green Hell

Post up at the Nürburgring and you’ll be treated to a wide range of sporty cars. German luxury exotics to Italian super machines will all roll on past. Often at a high rate of speed. But the endless sea of “DYNAMIC SPORTINESS” gets old. It’s the oddball stuff that we’re curious about. The folks at the YouTube channel Auto Addiction understand that, which is why they’ve put out a new volume of The Most Unusual Things to see at the Nordschliefe.
This one kicks off perfectly with a diesel-powered heavy-duty Ram belching black smoke over the micro machines attempting to overtake. From there we have Defenders, side-car-wearing motorcycles, wacky art cars, a Lego-inspired Volvo, and so much more.
My favorite? The Lincoln Mk VIII casually rambling past YouTube Corner.

The Duramax and the King Ranch Ford didn’t do too bad, That Defender (I think) looked sketchy as hell going around that corner and I would not want to be in that Willy’s, that looked like the scariest one.

I’m wondering how many corners it would take to turn the brakes on a big truck into pudding. My Effwonfiddy’s brakes are totally adequate, even for towing, but the heft of the truck is always there.

I’ve visited the Nurburgring twice. The latter time I described below, the first time however I watched a Ford Raptor show up on the ‘Ring parking lot directly after his (1) lap. His brakes were literally smoking. I had never seen such a thing before.
The picture is rather shitty, it was much more visible in real life.

I was there with the Mark VIII, we were a group of people for Jalopnik’s Oppositelock, and we do about 2 week-long meets a year. This had about a third the turnout of Wales in March. Anyway, that Lincoln looked rather out of place. Especially parked next to a Suzuki Cappuccino. Sounded good though and wasn’t slow on B roads.
This was taken the next day, on our way to Munich (Oktoberfest) and the Alps. The 205 is mine.

You’re certainly invited to the next one! Will be week 16 of 2019 (5-7 days) with lots of driving (no highways) and interesting locations, location either the border region of Germany/France/Switzerland or the French/Italian Alps/coastline. Details have to be worked out still.

Every time I watch one of these videos, my takeaway is that the Nürburgring basically is one fast moving traffic jam. Also, that Willys…I feel like they should have worn helmets, at least.

It’s all down to the driver. Though the diesel van record may have been broken since. (With a rental van!)

Or perhaps it is the car.
