Hemmings Hotties: Power Wagon Edition

23985435-770-0@2X Up for your consideration and eyeball enjoyment today comes this red beauty from the famous town of Nazareth, Pennsylvania. It’s home to the Andretti family, the old Nazareth speedway, and this – a 1963 Dodge W300 Power Wagon with all the bells and whistles. Let’s take a closer look at this big rig. (hat tip: my old man – thanks for the email!) The Power Wagon shared a similar history with the Jeep and other such capable vehicles built for the military during World War II; returning GI’s wanted a strong, reliable truck like they used overseas fighting the Axis powers, so Dodge built the Power Wagon. Over the years, Power Wagons have become very collectible, and are increasing in value, as you can see here. 23985519-770-0@2X Detail from the ad:

23985451-770-0@2X 23985517-770-0@2X The underside of this 51-year old truck is cleaner than my F-150. I love that it’s still red. $16,000 isn’t cheap, especially for a truck that’s over 50 years old. However, according to those who would know, only 335 V-8 equipped Power Wagons rolled off the assembly line in 1963, making this model somewhat rare, even though the original engine has been replaced with a later 360, mated to an newer overdrive transmission. Looking at its overall condition and low miles, it’s very possible that this truck saw service in a fire department, and spent most of its days in a garage, which is not a bad thing. I especially love that the seller mentions that the truck will do 2300 RPM at 65 mph, which must be quite a thrill. With other modern upgrades and creature comforts (look at the cozy bench seat), is this rig more of a restomod than a true restoration? [Ed: yes] We can argue that in the comments. 23985507-770-0@2X Is there any better color combination than red, white, and black? Especially on an old 3/4-ton truck? That white steering wheel is awesome. Be sure to check out all the pictures at the link below. Let us know in the comments what you think of this big red beast. P.S.  Do you need more Power Wagon in your life? We all do, it’s true. Fortunately, there are not one, but two Power Wagon rallies this weekend. The Annual Texas Power Wagon Reunion is April 26-27 at Kruger Hill, Brownwood, Texas. The 19th Annual Southern Power Wagon Rally is April 25-27 at Dwight Polattie’s Farm 1807 Callison Road Bradley, SC 29819. If you’re planning to attend either of these great events, do send us a few pictures, won’t you?   [Source: Hemmings Classifieds]
