Subaru is quietly kicking ass here in the United States. The brand has seen its sales numbers rise year over year and there’s no sign of slowing at the moment. In fact, we could be on the verge of one million Subaru sales in a given year, in just a few years time. That’s a massive jump over the few hundred thousand from just a couple of years prior.
One car very important to the success of the brand is, of course, the Impreza. The 2017 Subaru Impreza is especially important for a number of reasons. It’s the first model build on the Subaru Global Platform for our market, and this is a platform that will underpin nearly every model to come. Additionally, this is the first Impreza built right here in the United States.
The 2017 Impreza, for the US market, is built in Indiana.
It’s a strong entry in a crowded segment, and it has some great pluses and a few minuses to go along with it.

So what’s the deal with the 5 doors? Is that really coming to the USA? Will we still be able to get a manual? Not asking for an STI. Maybe I should watch the video before asking these questions, but that’s going to have to wait until later tonight.

Five door, yes – the hatch, not the wagon.
Manual, yes. They didn’t have any to sample yet though.-
Better NVH and a nicer interior, looks to be pretty nice.

It seems the trunk area has stayed roughly the same from what N/A called the wagon (but was called the hatch here in Australia), while the rest of the car has grown.
It is interesting that they have finally done a proper clean-sheet new body, although the powertrain is ok but not outstanding and has not moved on with the turbo state of the art. However it probably has good implications for long term ownership so long as you stick to the manual.
