Last week, we told you about the latest giveaway from eBay. The basic idea is that they want you to head over and sign up for the Garage section of the Motors website. If you’re already signed up, just upload some new photos. If you do that, you’re entered into a contest where the grand prize is either a 2014 Cadillac CTS or a 2014 Indian Chief Classic.
You can’t go wrong with either choice really, but let’s dive a bit deeper on that four-wheeled machine for a moment.
[Disclaimer: We teamed up with eBay to bring you information on this contest, which means we’re getting paid to share the message. We’d only do this with stuff we deem cool… and the chance to win a Cadillac CTS or a brand new Indian fit that bill.]
Cadillac introduced the CTS back in 2003, and it was well received. The second generation car hit the market in 2008, and it made a good car even better. Now though, the newly launched third generation CTS takes things to a different level. The Art & Science styling has evolved further leaving us with one sharp shuttle. All of the lines look taut, and the face is appropriately aggressive. Additionally, the way the daytime running lights drip down the face creates a wonderfully dramatic first impression.
The automaker offers up two engine choices for the standard CTS. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit. It’s good for 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and it sends power out to the rear wheels by way of a six-speed automatic gearbox. A larger 3.6-liter V6 engine is available, which produces 321 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, and it can be paired with a six-speed autobox or an eight-speed unit. Also, it’s a bit surprising that the smaller turbo mill churns out more torque.
Of course, there’s also a twin-turbocharged engine available on the VSport version, but we’re sticking to the two standard motors.
All of the available engines are strong choices, but it’s in the cabin space where the 2014 CTS shines a bit further. Cadillac is a true luxury car maker once again, and it shows here. From the touch points and materials used to the stitching, this is a nice place to sit. There are plenty of gadgets to keep you happy as well, and a great audio system.
We’re still not head over heels in love with Cue, but it’s a solid starting point that should improve over time. That’s part of the interesting bit about these modern infotainment systems, is that they can up easily upgraded and improved as technology moves forward.
This is also a drivers car. The Magnetic Ride suspension comes standard on the Premium trim. This means you can expect corners being well carved, the highway to be a smooth affair, and passengers to be as comfortable as you would hope. It’s a great system that presents a lovely balance between sporty and comfortable.
So it’s easy to get excited about a contest where one of the two grand prizes is the 2014 Cadillac CTS. The other prize is rather interesting as well… and we’ll take a deeper look at that bike tomorrow.
