What’s the one thing your parents, teachers, guidance counselors, parole officers or Tony Robbins motivational cassettes told you when you were growing up? “If you set your mind to it, you can do anything.” (Also: “don’t use a spork as a knife.”) That’s certainly the mentality that applies to this little guy. Aw, lookit the cute little blancmange bugger! Lookit him pop a wheelie with that massive (Volkswagen air-cooled) engine in the back!
Click the jump for another angle…
We have featured drag-racing Isettas at Hooniverse before, which says a lot about the mentality of Hooniverse when drag-racing BMW bubble cars are not only featured, but passé. With the VW motor, however, it seems to make sense: BMW’s Isetta takes up its role as crosstown rival to the Beetle, fighting the battle for post-war micro-machined Teutonic motoring superiority! But hey, if you can dream, and you have access to a TIG welder and some slotted mags on Mickey Thompson slicks, then not even Tony Robbins can stand in your way.

"Tim Robbins" motivational cassettes? Are those the one where you learn to repeat useful phrases like "We gotta play it one game at a time" and ""This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains."?

"Get busy living or get busy dying"
Or maybe that was Morgan Freeman…-
Tim Robbins? I thought it was Tony Robbins.
Also, somewhere I can remember seeing pictures of a Fiat Multipla turned into a gasser.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you smartasses. Too many Robbinses to keep track of. Ok, just two. 🙂

I think that exhaust pipe needs little wheels at the tip. It would be a shame if the front door were suddenly converted into a sunroof.
-
No problem, because at that point the sunroof itself would suddenly become a rear hatch.

The steering column is at about the same angle as a bus, almost vertical. In the top shot of the car hooking up, look how the guy is hanging onto the wheel for dear life, white knuckled, no doubt. Any chance of this contraption getting squirrely at high speeds? Nah.
(I love it, the old farts from the bar around the corner are hooning their sandrails up and down the street, providing the perfect soundtrack to this post) -
I WANT IT. I wonder what it ran in the quarter mile.

I approve of draggin' Isettas.

The one in the article looks like it's set up for draggining.
-
I see. And mine is set up for dragoning?

What, all of them? That's a shot of Bruce Weiner's collection, so it's easier just to work one's way through the list:

That's a Victoria 250, although the BAG Spatz and Burgfalke 250 are quite similar.
