The Audi E-Tron GT is no longer just the ride of choice for the dearly departed Tony Stark (if that’s a spoiler, you’re way behind). Audi has officially unveiled its electric sedan and the results are stunning. Thankfully, this one stays true to the concept version. And we’re also excited to learn that the RS team gets a say here, as there’s a super sports sedan version joining the electric-only fun.
Here are the basic stats you need to know:
- The standard E-Tron GT uses a motor at each axle. The front makes 235 hp and the rear makes 429 hp. Combined output is rated at 429 hp, or up to 522 for 2.5 seconds during launch control situations.
- On the RS E-Tron GT, it’s a similar setup. The same front motor is used but a more powerful rear motor is swapped in, which makes 450 hp. Now, the combined output is 590 hp or up to 637 hp in that short overboost mode.
- Audi says the RS E-Tron GT will dash from 0-6o mph in 3.1 seconds while the standard E-Tron GT needs just 3.9 seconds. And both versions can clear 150 mph at the top end.
- Like the Porsche Taycan, both E-Tron GT versions make use of a two-speed gearbox.
- Air suspension is standard and moves the car nearly an inch down or nearly an inch up from the central setting.,
- All-wheel steering is standard on the RS and available on the lesser model.
- Power comes from a 93.4-kWh pack, of which Audi utilizes 85-kWh to keep the longevity of the system in check.
- This thing charges much more quickly than the standard E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback. It uses an 800-volt electrical system and can handle charging at 270-kW on a DC Fast Charger. That means it would take 22.5 minutes to go from 5% to 80% state of charge.
- The automaker estimated range for the E-Tron GT is 238 miles while the RS version dips to 232 miles.
- The base Premium Plus starts at $99,900. A Prestige starts at $107,100. And the RS starts at $139,900.
- Audi anticipates the car qualifying for the full $7,500 federal tax incentive, and there could be state incentives as well. Doesn’t make it affordable, but certainly nice to knock the price down a little bit.
What Audi has done here though, is make a car that’s a better looking and less expensive alternative to the Porsche Taycan. We assume the Taycan still drives just a bit better, but only just. And this one is likely more comfortable on a daily basis. Either way, this thing looks wonderful and we can’t wait to take one for a drive.
