We’ve been busy in our workshops this month. Garrett finished his powdercoating oven and rebuilt Eric’s carbs, Pete bought a TIG welder. Along the way, in between talking about welding and plasma cutters, we tie up a few loose ends from past episodes, and discuss bikes including the Ducati Paso, Triumph Speedmaster, and Honda GB500.
Be sure to look below to follow along with 15 photos that accompany this episode.

Okay, I resisted my inner pedant when P161911 referred to regular buttresses as flying buttresses “Hooniverse Asks:” yesterday, but now I gotta let it out. Pete is doing a drilling/boring operation on the lathe in that pic, not a turning/facing operation. Totally different speed/feed calculation.
I’ve had my Africa Twin for a week and already I’ve had to fab up some threaded inserts and nylon washers on the lathe. These are for the stock rack to mount a Givi Monolock bag, using a Delrin adapter plate. Down the road I’ll get an integrated rack/pannier/top case system, maybe Givi maybe not; then I can put this case on the DRZ.
Fun Fact: When I bought my Laverda back in 1988 the shop had both a Ducati Desmo and a GB500 on the floor, as well as some Cagiva Elefants.
Consider me schooled, and properly castigated.
