Northern Tool, Monster Jam, and some Texas High School Students Team Up for An Awesome Build

Northern Tool + Equipment makes a whole lot of commercial-grade equipment. Monster Jam makes people cheer when their big trucks do crazy things. When the two join forces, the goal is to make people smile, apparently. Their latest target? The students at Bryan High School’s Career and Technical Education program. Because all three are working together to build a mini Monster Jam truck.

The Texas students were surprised when they went out to visit a local Northern Tool location. Monster Jam rolled out a pair of trucks. Then Northern Tool rolled out the red carpet. By that, I mean they informed the students that they would be building a little Monster Jam rig of their own, and they’d do so with the help of Northern Tool, Dewalt, Ingersoll Rand, and Milwaukee. As someone who’s fully bought into the Milwaukee ecosystem, that last bit has me pretty jealous.

But the heart of the build lies with the donated 740cc EFI NorthStar engine. This will power the Mini Monster Jam build. That’s a fun change for the engine, which is usually found doling out the power to a 525-gallon hot water pressure trailer. The students will get to work crafting the truck over the course of the next year. The goal is that the finished machine will be unveiled at a Monster Jam event on June 7, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

During the process, Northern Tool will document it all via updates posted to its YouTube channel. The company previously documented a Rat Rod Go-Kart build-off competition between two high schools and a host of other stuff centering around donating equipment to schools that can put it to good use. And I have to say; I definitely count building a mini Monster Jam truck as putting this stuff to good use.

One final cool cherry on top of this bit of news is that Monster Jam folks will step in and provide mentorship from time to time. This includes team crew chiefs and a few other folks. The kids get the tools and equipment and a bit of first-hand knowledge from experienced pros. It sounds like an awesome experience for everyone involved.

I look forward to seeing the finished product on this build!
