This part came out of a 2010 Ford Escape V6. This business-owned vehicle spurn a transmission oil leak at around 80,000 miles. The leak from the pan was fixed and the transmission got its first service ever – it’s a work vehicle, lack of proper maintenance is very common. Upon refilling, my mechanic friend noticed that the fluid kept overflowing from the dipstick yube/filler. The dipstick itself kept indicating that the transmission fluid was always low. Upon the removal of the dipstick tube from the transmission case he found this part wedged between the filler tubed and the transmission case. What is it?
Few more pictures after the jump.
Integra key used for reference, as I didn’t have a banana handy.
I think I have a very good idea of what it is, but I’ll let the Hooniverse gurus confirm my suspicions.
At Ford, quality is job 1!
