Just this week, Lamborghini unveiled their 50th Anniversary Edition Aventador, the LP720-4 50° Anniversario. It’s a bold yellow machine, and it suits both the tastes of Lamborghini and the people who buy them. Now, to congratulate the Italian automaker, my posts this weekend are Lamborghini-themed all around.
And, there’s also a reason why I picked a 1966 Lamborghini 400GT as the first post, and not an early 350GT. The fact of the matter is, this is my 400th published post here at the Verse that is the Hoon, according to the Press that holds the Word. Writing about a 400GT sort of ties in properly with my nice round post number.
This British-registered, but still LHD 400GT is for sale at Lusso Classics in Hilversum, Netherlands. Check the ad here.
For reasons unclear to me, their website only declares “Nice Original Condition”, and not a word more. Still, I believe that’s an alright description of the red 1966 car. While the initial batch of 400GT:s were only 350GT:s with a bigger, four-litre engine, the car here is the slightly different 2+2 model.
I don’t know if “Original Condition” means the car is unrestored, because if that is the case this is one well-kept 47-year-old car.
The four-litre V12 with 320hp really must be something at full song, grand touring on a serpentine road.
The 400GT isn’t cheap, being advertised at a significant sum of 185 000 eur. Then again, it’s one of those cars that really stand out on any classic cruise weekend on a perfect day, and I’m sure it’s worth of such outlay of funds.
And as for my 400th post, I can’t wait to schedule the next 400. Here’s to them.
