Even though there is a “freeze warning” down here in the Birthplace of Speed for overnite on Wednesday, this olelongrooffan is proud to note that the Sunshine State was the only State in the Union, including Hawaii, not to have received any snow during the last couple days!
And know Tonyola and this olelongrooffan are enjoying all this sunshine for our fellow Hoons. Stay safe and warm.
Image Source: Who the hell knows. I have had the snow street image for years and have no idear where it came from. But thanks to the original photographer for it.
But for those of us in the snowbelt, this is normal.
Yeah, we've got our winter legs under us now. No big whoop.
You! You, the 66 or 67 GTO convertible parked across lanes in the center of the picture. Come to my house. Now.
I'm especially enamoured with the Volvo P44(?) against the third light pole up or the ScenicCruiser in the back on the far right.
PV544.
And the measly couple of inches of snow we had in Seattle is now GONE! Works for me.
Sorry guys, I have to go with either the Checker or one of them big ole trucks.
We all have our weaknesses. 🙂
And notice, there is not a pickup truck in sight!
I'll take the '66 Dodge Coronet just up the hill from the diagonally parked Pontiac convertible.
I'll take the '63 Cadillac and the Lark.
I have actually seen snow in Florida. I once lived in Gainesville and one winter day it snowed to the point where there was white stuff on the ground. My buddies and I built a snowman from what we could scrape off cars. It was only maybe six inches tall but the thought counts, right?
Was that the year that the orangeries were decimated? We visited the "Citrus Tower" in Clermont, FL back in '93 and recieved a tour of where the citrus plantations had thrived. I assume the ones thereabouts never did recover because the groves are now gone and I hear the land has been built on by now. The tower survives and is now festooned with cellphone repeaters.
January 1977. It was also the only time when it snowed in Miami. That freeze killed off a lot of the central Florida groves and many of the citrus growers began to move to the southern part of the state. More freezes in the 1980s finished the job. Most of the old grovelands west and northwest of Orlando are now residential developments.
Wonder if the Checker's meter was still running?
That's not a cab, but the Marathon Sedan, right there.
On second look, maybe it is a cab. That '67 Buick Gran Sport dead center in the pic sure isn't, though.
I thought it could be, but also thought the circular emblem on the door could be a taxi company logo.
It is. My mind wanted to see a civilian Marathon, so that's what it saw.
My mind wants to see a steak sandwich right now. *Sigh*.
Like a good neighbor State Farm is there…. WITH A STEAK SANDWICH!
I am somewhat jealous, although I do admit to enjoying the snow. It's just the horrible -29C temperatures I'm not enjoying right now.

Deep snow. When every car looks like a Trans Sport.
Or more appropriately, a Silhouette!!
I set them up and you knock them in! What a team.
Alley oop!
Snow??

Hahahahahaha.
Snow's not so bad. The pretty ladies get cold, and need you to help them find creative, athletic and geometrically intricate ways of keeping them warm.
Flurries of excitement.
I knew you'd flake out on us. You're going to get an avalanche of complaints.
See you in July….
Hahahahahaha…:)
I think I speak for the entire Midwest when I politely say "Damn you"
P.s. I'll take the one on the left.
reminds me of a time a few years back when my son and I attended a winter party in the Queen city of the Ozarks….upon arriving at the hosts' home, he noticed that outside the back door of the house were about 12-15 12 packs of various adult beverages….
he didn't understand why they weren't in the refrigerator in the house…..his response while removing four layers of
( we live in Florida) sweat shirts and jackets was a typical teenage ….. "DUH"……it's colder outside than in the fridge….
I still prefer to get my beverage from a refrigerator that outside the back door…..
I start leaving the beer out of the fridge around October and don't put it back in until April.
It's the weather. It happens all the time.
Meanwhile I'm drifting every turn with a nice big grin.
We got a dusting of snow here in central GA, but mostly ice. The Midwesterner in me laughs at the South's reaction to even the mildest winter weather, but I also enjoy getting a day and a half off work. So hooray for snow and ice!
I spent all day backcountry skiing while the sky dumped a foot of fresh snow on me. I rather like it up here.
My friends in Houston tell me it is going to be a "frigid" 30f tonight. My sympathy is mitigated by eight inches of snow on the ground and a high of 8f today.
But hey, I can spin all four wheels almost everywhere I go and do some sweet 4wd drifts yo. Damn I love snow.
Just got a bunch dumped on here in Toronto. Too bad the family Accord doesn't take to oversteering shenanigans.
On second thought, that might be a good thing.
Well, I see a Volkswagen, but I don't see any Corvairs. They probably made it home.
Meanwhile in Fargo, my coworker who has a supercharger in his Challenger R/T is still making it to work in that car every day. And he doesn't even have winter tires on the car. And the street past the office has been a skating rink since early December. And we officially have 19" of snow accumulated on the ground for the winter, which is a deeper snowpack than was seen in all but 17 winters of recorded history.
As for me, I'm driving my Dakota, since this is the season when it's most entertaining to drive it (though it can be amusing to hustle a 230 HP/4700 lb pickup through curves in summer, too.) I did take my Challenger out on Sunday after a 3 week hiatus and promptly got a warning from a Minnesota state trooper (because I… CAN'T DRIVE… FIFTY-FIVE!) and also a heavy salt coating on the car.
thanks for taking the sunshine, there isn't enough snow here (in my opinion) yet… and trust that i'm enjoying what we've got so far very, very much for you.. i didn't realize the (rwd) astro was going to be as much fun as it is– not as good as the '84 lesabre or '96 t-bird.. but still a lot of fun…
We got a whopping 4.4" <rolls eyes> on Tuesday for a January total of 7.3". I'm sort of disappointed but at the same time, I'm making the commute between Lexington, KY and Toledo, OH quite frequently and don't want to do that in inclement weather.
