Using something after someone else – grossly described as sloppy seconds – is not typically something you would consider optimal. In fact, motels sometimes even put a sash across the commode seat with the notation that it has been sanitized for your protection, lest you fear your cheeks touching something some stranger’s cheeks had touched without an intervening bleach wipe-down.
When it comes to cars however, sometimes getting one that’s had some prior action can reveal some surprising treasures. Actually, it was the news a coupe of days ago about a couple who discovered 10 million dollars in old coins on their property while on a walk that got me thinking about this. When you buy a used car from a dealer, you’re lucky to get a spare set of keys and the owner’s manual, but dealing with a private party can mean a cornucopia of surprise finds in glove boxes, trunks, and under-seat cubbies. And sometimes the rental car companies don’t do quite as good a job of cleaning between patrons either.
Have you ever found a treasure in a used car or truck that you have purchased, or perhaps a rental car? More likely, have you come across something you wished you hadn’t? Let us know, what is the most interesting thing you’ve ever found in a car or truck that you’ve bought or rented.
