Not only is the Honda Joy Machine able to out-dog the dogs, but it also enjoys one of the most humorous engrish names ever applied to a car.
Other Japanese brands that have made questionable choices in naming there wares include Daihatsu, whose dealers have been made to sell the Naked, Applause and the Rocky (would the Rocky II be defeated by a Yaz?). Even Mazda has fallen prey to the weird name fairy, selling both the Bongo, and the Scrum MPV.

Theres no scum allowed in my scrum.
There's no scum allowed in my scrum.

The Europeans, led by Volkswagen have had their odd names as well, as have the U.S. car makers. In fact, it seems like all the good names have been used up, and all that’s left is the truncated versions of words implying strength, honor or valor.
So, given the rich history of world-wide car manufacture over the years, which name elicits the biggest grins or the most rolled eyes?

    1. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Matthew McConaughey loves his Mazda Bongo Friendly…
The upholstery is extra soft against bare skin… And it comes with lots of ashtrays (and lighters).

      1. In that case, I wonder if you have to drive the Bongo Friendly shirtless. The McConaughey would (and as we've learned, sometimes pantless).

  1. The Scrum implies rugby, which it would have trouble carrying a full rugby team…especially if they're the the Samoan team. Those are some big guys. Fast, too.
The funniest car name of all time to me was the Ford Probe. A decent car, but a horrible name. South Park just made it worse.

    1. A scrum is when they cram themselves together to fight over a loose ball. Any more than three people in that little van would pretty much constitute a scrum.

    2. The scrum is also a daily stand-up meeting of a software development geeks and at least one project manager asking everyone the same three questions each day. One of my project teams meets in an empty office not much larger than that Scrum.

  2. If the legends are to be believe, the Mitsubishi Starion.
Really, it got all the way to production before anyone caught that it didn't say Stallion.

  3. I always get a laugh when I see an Audi TT because if you say TT really fast, well, you get it…
I also think that the Citroen 2CV "Dolly" is a funny name(funny, strange).
Back in the seventies Dodge made a special edition truck called "The Dude"…priceless!
