Nobody in Boston had heard from Halifax for much too long.
Something was wrong up there. And it was bad.
It was a traffic accident with a two-mile blast radius. Roads were impassable. Railways were twisted. People resorted to digging with their hands to get to trapped victims. And that night, a blizzard buried the city in two feet of snow.
And it was the event that began a yearly tradition of gratitude.
Thanks for Being Here
We recorded this just before Thanksgiving, and the anniversary of the Halifax Explosion on December 6 gave us publishing date to shoot for, our own little way to commemorate the yearly rememberance.
The end of the year holiday season glows a little brighter with appreciation as we close out a year by reflecting and we’re likely to see people we hadn’t connected with for a while. In that sense, we’ve had a short time to reintroduce the Hooniverse Podcast to the world. We’re glad you’re here, and thankful for the opportunity to try out a new format and tell interconnected stories. We’re enjoying ourselves, we hope you like it, too.
We touch our impressions of the Los Angeles Auto Show, the saga of the Jaguar rebrand, and driving impressions of the GMC Silverado EV, Chevrolet Traverse, Subaru WRX, and Land Rover Defender 110.
Where To Find It
The Hooniverse Podcast is available in the same places as before, like Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio, and Spotify.
More Info About The Halifax Explosion
This event is well-documented. I drew on resources from the Library of Congress and Communications Nova Scotia. The Hub History podcast did an excellent episode that comprehensively covers the event, and the accompanying blog post has a wealth of additional links and information. Make sure you check out the interview with John U. Bacon.
