Dodge Little Red Wagon: It's Not a Wagon, But It Packs a 426 Hemi

“If you think cars on rails are the hottest thing in drag racing, take a look at this!” In case any of you Hoons out there thought all the Dodge A100 van was good for was rusting or crushing your lower extremities in a low-speed collision, think again! All you need to do to spice it up is to drop a 426 Hemi making a healthy 600 HP into it! Make the jump to watch this sixties-era novelty dragster hit the strip.

Seeing this, I’m simply confused why no one’s revived the concept with a 2JZ-GTE powered Toyota Van … I’d call it the “Wasabi Wagon.” But I digress … does it really get any better than a wheelie-lovin’ forward control van-truck hybrid? No, sir, it does not.

  1. They haven't done it because nobody likes Toyotas. (Okay, CaffeineFuelled does, but that's it.)
Forward-control vans — and FC pickups — are an absolute love of mine. I used to love playing in dad's old VW Van, and the experience of sitting in the front seat when we went somewhere, turning a sharp corner, that feeling of the truck actually turning behind you is kind of exciting when you're a little kid, and I think I have a nostalgic fondness for them as a result.
I've been talking about how I want a neat project vehicle to go camping with. Perhaps you've hit upon the best idea so far. A FC pickup with an in-bed camper and a mild V8 swap. Fun, unique, entertaining, and easily upgradable. I love it!

    1. I was in Seattle for Thanksgiving, in Ballard, leaving dinner, when I saw a Falcon Van drive by. I mentioned to my non-car companions how rarely you see them anywhere. Next block, around the corner, were two more, both nicely restored. I shoulda bought a lottery ticket on the spot.

  2. And then the unicorn you were riding knocked over the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
Once I had an Econoline pickup for a few weeks. In retrospect, it was pretty much the high point of my life.

    1. i hate it when that happens leaves (got to leave it genderless b/c we all know that unicorms are asexual (or f**k themselves) and s*** golden doubloons all over the place.)
hope that is safe enough for work……………………………….

  3. I was actually reading about the Hairy Olds when I found a link to the Little Red Wagon. But yeah, the Hairy Olds was pretty sweet. Now, if only they'd constructed a Hairy GMC motorhome … you think 4 Toronado drivetrains would do it?

  4. Still, 3 Toronado drivetrains would be amazingly badass. I suppose one could keep adding to it, too. Hell, put another drivetrain in the front, make it an 8×8.

  5. Um, wouldn't that be kinda like a Class C motorhome, but without being to able to pass from the coach into the cab? Not trying to be a smartass or anything…

    1. Kind of, but with the advantage that the in-box camper is removable, so you can still use the base truck for something else that's somewhat useful, rather than just having it parked all the time. Like smoky burnouts!

  6. автор excellent site
