Welcome to Craigslist Crapshoot, our weekly search for the most bizarre, awesome, and/or terrible vehicles that the online classifieds has to offer.
Do you ever feel like nobody appreciates you or your contributions? Well, we sure do (appreciate you that is), and I appreciate all that you contributed to last week’s quest for under-appreciated cars and trucks. We’ll appreciate some of those in just a sec, but first, this week’s hide and seek.
Many of last week’s cars and trucks may eventually become recognized for the classics you know they already are. One marque that has always been recognized as such, even when it perhaps shouldn’t have been, is Chevy’s evergreen sports car, the Corvette. Let’s have some Vette love this week and see if we can’t find the cheapest/best value opportunity to get into the fiberglass Chevy club.
As always, we want your finds to go down in infamy and not in the site’s spam filter. Since we’ve changed commenting systems, you may need to update your commenter account. Make sure you have a Disqus account – they’re free and easy to get – and then comment away.
So you all deserve a hearty pat on the back for bringing the heat – and a bunch of cars, any one of which could be considered an underachiever. There was one however that was brought up by P161911 that I’ve been thinking about for a while now, and that’s Chevy’s Z24 Cavalier. The ad is unfortunately gone.
Now, before you rush to your pitchforks and torches, hear me out. I have a friend who once had a base Cavalier convertible – an old one at that – that he drove all through college and then on for years afterward.
The thing of it is, while that car didn’t handle particularly well, nor was it as tight as a drum after years and tons of miles, it still ran like a champ, never let him down and had a top that let the sun in when wanted and the rain out when needed. Add to that the better suspension of the Z24 and you’ve got a pretty compelling – and dirt cheap – ride. Yeah there are better cars out there, but the Cavalier – well, I like it.
Congrats to P161911, and thank you all for your carefully considered entries.
