Summer time is definitely more car-guy-friendly for driving events, shows, rallies, and general get-togethers. Winter does not need to all cold and dark, however, as we will learn today. While ice racing is somewhat popular around the norther regions of our land, I have yet to see autocross on snow which, I think, is a brilliant idea!
As with the summer events, we will look at the images of awesome-ish and interesting cars doing what they are not really suppose to be doing. Like before, all images came from the awesome Polish site called Stado Baranow, which means which means a Heard of Sheep (direct translation) but it could mean a Group of Morons, too, which seems more fitting. And it would be fitting for Hooniverse too, if we ever sell this place and need to start something new.
Snap oversteer… is possible with a 24-ish horsepower engine.
weee….
Two stroke. If you put you face closer to your screen you can smell the exhaust.
Not quite a rally car.
Late-model box is to winter as a Husky is… to… uhmm… winter.
In 1982 this was on my ‘cool list’
The later years of 126p, probably around 1986-1989-ish. Not the updated bumpers and with rear fog-light and reverse lights, which became mandatory about that time. Also, people who had rear fog-lights didn’t always use them, like most Audi owners… mostly because it would put too much strain on the electrical system.
Story time: I’m at my first ever New York Auto Show, some time around 1987. I hop behind the wheel of some Audi and I check out the interior. I thought that is was very sporty, well laid-out with focus on the driver, this most be a cool sports car.
I get out of and my mind is blown… it was an Avant! I made a mental note to myself to get one of those when I’m older.
Great design. This is one of the few times, however, when its replacement was better looking.
Rally car! Now we’re cooking with oil!
Not sure of that rubber-band will hold those wheels.
Any Italian car in snow and salt = ballsy.
Yea! I’d love to hoon that!
Can these things can even go around a curve without wagging their butts?
Ahh, yes… when not oversteering, they’re understeering.
Two-box design.
Poetry in motion.
Childhood dream car. Actually went to look at one when I was in my 20s. What a disappointment that was.
Still… would hoon.
Group B heritage.
Everyone, everywhere, love the E30.
Proper Lancia usage.
For Sweden!
One of the best vehicles in this whole post is probably also the least interesting.
Lada 2105 (I think), once a family man’s dream, not a winter hoon mobile.
The original CUV. Want. Would daily d.*
Awesome looking Euro headlights.
Pulling a sled with a car is an awesome idea… until the car stops.
Euro Escort. Better looking than its North American cousin in my opinion, especially inside.
Driver fail.
How can you not smile when you see this?
Polonez, mid-drift, Trabii, no drifting capability.
German Ford Granada… it was decades ahead of its Euro cousin.
Polonez, doing what its designers intended it to do… not falling apart.
The last of the best Benzes?
Personal luxury coupe… hooned!
Zastava, a rare 3-door version. The funny thing is, the five door looked exactly the same, just with doors in place of the fixed rear window.
Good old Scandinavian flick.
Not sure if AWD/turbo, or just looking like it. Great rally heritage. Also, I drove the U.S. version of the AWD/Turbo Celica… wasn’t impressed.
Late Sierra… another rally legend. I want one.
Everything is right about this.
Sadly, there are no action shots of this beauty.
I wanted this more than the E30 M3.
If it moves, it hoons.
Majestic.
Again, no action shots.
Beautiful design.
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on Highway 9
For Brad.
