Automotive Fatalities, How Does Your State Rate?

According to this graph from Graphzoo and based on NHTSA data over a 37 year period, most of the states in the U.S. have seen dramatic declines in automobile-related fatalities. This can be most likely attributed to improvements in automotive safety technologies and capabilities. It’s also surprising in light of the axing of Driver’s Ed from most schools across the country over the years, and our crumbling highway infrastructure. Check out the chart and see where your state’s stats sit. Or, if you’re outside of the U.S. but might be planning a visit, see which states you might wish to avoid. Most states have shown significant improvements in traffic death numbers, however in the South, the carnage seems to have gotten worse.
