Confession Time: Show Us Your Toys
/
Yes, we’re all grown-ups here. Well, most of us are, anyhow. But many of us still indulge ourselves in some rather childish hobbies.

V.I.S.I.T. – Obfuscating the Line Edition
/
Remember that night We I Mitch you forgot that most important of rules, “Beer before liquor, never been sicker”? You wouldn’t, of course… but the results would certainly do their best to impart reminders into your skull the next day. As does this rolling hangover, which is a study of styling memes shaken, blended and…

What’s Your Eleanor? – I’m Such a Square Edition
/
My greatest love of all is an old, boxy lump of metal with a weezy little 1600cc motor. It screams early 1970’s middle class suburbia family wagon. I’ve seen molasses in winter move faster. It has a face only I could love and yet I lust after one, each and every day. This one here…

Hooniverse Parting Shot: The 1976 to 1989 Aston Martin Lagonda Saloon; A Dramatic, Flawed, and Unusual Design.
/
Aston Martin is one of Britain’s most prestigious and historic car companies, forever linked to Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, surviving the 70’s after a close call with receivership, and prospering under the guidance of the Ford Motor Company. It is now again a proper British Motorcar producer, the marque owned by private investment firms…

Autorama 2010
/
Saturday was a productive day at casa de Schmo. I spent the better part of the morning tinkering with Eleanor. Heck, I still have grease under my fingernails. The latter part of the day I braved 50 degree temperatures and huge crowds to drag my two Hoons-in-training around the Sandy Expo Center for Utah Autorama.

The Detroit Auto Show; What are the highlights thus far?
/
Since Andy Didorosi has already finished a post on the Auto Show (Thanks Andy) I just thought I would do a quick post on what we (UDman and engineerd) think are the highlights of the NAIAS so far. Here is Dustin shooting a video for Streetfire.net (and having a great time, by the way).

You Only Hurt the One You Love- Car Tats
/
Tattoos, like old Mercedes diesels, last forever. That being the case, it’s a good idea if you’re planning to get inked to make sure the subject matter is something that you could live with for the rest of your life. That seems to have been the case for a bunch of car nuts that have…

A Landcruiser by Any Other Name
/
Any time the words “4×4” and “For Parts” crop up on Craigslist, I’m all but bound by duty to investigate. When the post happens to feature an ’84 Landcruiser swaddled in what could only be described as the quintessential FJ color, you can bet your betting eyes I’m going to share the glory with you.…

No Good Can Come of This: 1965 FiberFab Aztec
/
This is certainly not a “true” Porsche. While the lines of this Fiberfab Aztec kit have a decent mid-60s supercar look and the feasibility of scary-fast VWs is well known, we’re still doubtful you’d ever have a car that wouldn’t be laughed at as soon as your opened the gullwing doors or tilt-back hatch. But…

Japanese Combine Molester Vans and Racing to Create Something New!
/
Count on the Japanese to come up with this one. Uber-tipster bzr pointed us towards a new trend in Japan; it’s referred to as “Dajiban”, which is really just a Japanese-ification of “Dodge Van”. Dead serious, that’s what it is. I might have had a little chuckle at the cleverness of that one.

Yet another FC150, courtesy of BaT
/
I cannot lie, the first two articles about these scary awesome forward control 4x4s had me enthralled as I had never seen nor heard of one. There is just something about them that makes me want to throw on some boots and a heavy flannel jacket, toss my chainsaw in the back and disappear into the…

Wait, This Isn't Canal Street?
/
This was the scene yesterday when a pair of hoons decided to take a shortcut down a frozen-over canal near Winchburgh, West Lothian in Scotland, only to find that they literally were on thin ice. The 22 and 25-year old occupants managed to escape the Peugeot 407 before the captain signaled the order to rig…

Hooniverse Asks- Would You Buy a Three-Wheel Car?
/
In the U.S., cars have to meet a lot of stringent safety and emissions standards. That onus can impact both the cost and performance of the vehicle, and have kept a lot of cottage-industry car makers from selling their wares here. A way around those standards is to build something that falls outside the narrow…

Hooniverse Asks- What Would You Do With a Crate Motor?
/
Let’s say you’re sitting in the bathtub, enjoying a relaxing soak, when the doorbell rings. You curse whoever is disturbing you and quickly jump out of the tub. Throwing on a robe, you make your way to the front door, only to be greeted by the site of a stake bed truck pulling away, its…
