Last week’s Track Tuesday challenge proved to be daunting, and the site going down for days didn’t help any. For those who are curious as to the identity of the above almost-a-track, make the jump and all will be revealed.
Situated in Inner Mongolia, China’s Ordos City has been nicknamed “China’s Ghost City” in the West. A massive construction undertaking the city out in the middle of nowhere is one of China’s building boom nightmares, seemingly having outpaced the country’s ability to populate it. In the case of the Ordos International Race Circuit, it’s also home to an equally underused race track.
The 2.33-mile OIC was completed in 2011, and featured a running horse design to honor the region’s native son, Genghis Khan. The track has hosted the FIA GT1 World Championship, and is home to the Genghis Khan Cup series, but other than that, there doesn’t seem to be much action in the pits or on the course. That’s perhaps why it was so vexing to identify.

I saw the horse and looked if Mongolia was getting a GP. Oh well.
