The Impreza RS fills the gap between the typical pedestrian Impreza and the WRX. While the WRX comes only as a sedan variant these days, the RS comes only as a hatchback.
The RS comes with Subaru’s 2.5-liter engine, an improvement over the 2-liter engine over the typical Impreza, but short of the WRX’s turbo engine. This reaffirms its middle child status. That really is the gist of it.
The Impreza RS comes only with Subaru’s CVT, unfortunately. It is available with only one option pack that includes power seats, sunroof, and Harman Kardon audio. But there are dozens of accessories available.
