So, how are you doing in your office’s NCAA pool? Advancing? Already dropped out? Well, that’s okay because we have another contest for you to play. That’s right, it’s Friday and that means the little weekly time killer to keep your mind off all those TPS reports stacking up on your desk.
And just like college basketball and office politics, we have rules by which to play. In order to win, you need to come up with the make, model, year-range and likely engine under the hood. That’s not so tough, especially if you ask your boss to help.

My office pool is much like this street lake, and I will be victorious, like the mystery car:

1954 Bristol 403*, powered by a BMWish 2.0l inline six.

*I don't really think I'm correct, I just wanted to look at Bristols today.
I looked at it and thought Bristol too.
Wow, that defines homely.
Boo!
I didn't even guess last week, so I'll say this one looks a lot like a Bentley R Type Continental.

Engine and year range?
OOoh, looks like mdharrell must be on to something.
It was built 1952-1955, but the mystery car is a 1954 (probably) powered by a 4.5l inline 6. It was a stonking fast car in its day.
Engine … "adequate"
Congrats all on a 'group effort". This particular one belongs to a family friend, George Chilburg, who bought the car decades ago. His wife refused to speak to him for a week after the purchase, but has warmed to the car now that it's worth mid-six figures.
spotted three of these beauties at Amelia Island earlier this month. Stunningly beautiful.
I certainly can't fault Mr. Chilburg for his taste in red MGs.
Really? Well, the one in the photo, JAS 949, is a 1954, so I'll go with that. Number_Six has already specified the engine (and likely year).
1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback. No idea what engine, though, since they were offered with the slant-6 up to a 383 V8.

I just saw a guy driving one yesterday. I was wondering what it was and now I know! Thanks!
I want to say Henry J, but that window edge is too rounded
Aston Martin DB2 with a 2.6L I6.
Not it. I but this came up when I did a search for the DB2. Gratuitous sexiness.

Hold on here! What the hell was last week's car?
It is doomed to remain forever a mystery…

I think if it hasn't been sussed out by the following Friday, that the answer should be posted.
I agree, after the hours I've spent googling it would be nice to have a resolution.
And now we do! You'll have to go and look yourself though.
