  1. I don't know, could be a stupid idea. The pilot either will be soo terrible it is awesome to watch or, besides some quips from Adam, not contain any content worth seeing.
I am betting on Motorweek v2.0

  2. Hoons! Mount up! I propose we go get that tape, give it to Jalopnik on behalf of the Hooniverse, then spend all the money on hookers and blow for the Hooniverse writers.

  3. Crazy. NBC executives may not know their backside from a open-pit mine, but this pilot was probably 9 ways of anti-awesome. US TV execs have a habit of translating awesome BBC content into utter rubbish.
Even if they did find it, and it turned out to be good, what difference would it make? Either way, NBC is unlikely to revive it. They shifted Leno out of the 10pm slot because they were getting tons of complaints from their affiliates about content that was supposed to have broad based appeal (whether or not you have the ability to stomach Leno's brand of humor). Replacing it with specialty programming is the last thing the affiliates want.
Probably doesn't help that I equate Adam Carolla with smarmy. Just watch the original series. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good.

  4. When I first saw this, I thought it was a contest to *produce* a Top Gear USA pilot, with a $5000 grand prize. I think this would be a much better contest. Rope in two of your friends and proceed to engage in TG-esque hijinks. Bonus points for excessive use of the phrase "In The World."

  5. I tried to get some kind of response from NBC, unsuccessful of course so far. But I shall not rest until it is made public! Hip hip horrahh for Top Gear (or the $5000… or Top Gear…… errr the $5000… nevermind).
