Fastback Friday: The Rolex Edition

By LongRoofian Jan 7, 2011

In honor of Fastback Friday, I thought I would share with my fellow Hoon some of the fastbacks I spotted earlier today on yet another visit, although this time with credentials, to the Roar before the 24 out at the Daytona International Speedway. On the way there, I stopped by the Ocean Center and snuck in for a sneek preview of the show they are putting on tonite.

Crap! This is for Truck Thursday! Pay No Attention. Move On, Move On

Wait, this is Fastback Friday!

Does this one count?

This one I spotted over in the Continental Tire Series garage.

Admission price? $190,000.
I then scooted on down the garage to capture an image of another Porsche, this time a Cayman S.

Admission price for this one? “Around $150-175,000 depending on how you would price labor” this olelongrooffan was told upon inquiry of the Owner.
Then out in the non-restricted area I spotted a Panamera from Brumos Porsche up in Jacksonville.

The price of admission for this fuzzy little turbo sedan is $149,864.
This Rolex series MazdaSpeed RX8 is the fringes of the definition of fastback.

Its admission price is around $400,000.
The Daytona Prototype I shared my lunch with, could any Hoon out there ask for a better lunch partner, retails at about

$650,000.
These Rolex GT series Ferraris sticker at about $220,000 each although

I bet a cunning Hoon could pick either

of these up for significantly less than the replacement cost. As Is, Where Is.
And as happens to be the case with damn near every auto related event I attend, some of the coolest stuff is in the parking lot.

This one is a Porsche 930, dating from 1985 if the license plate is to be believed.
And I spotted this after seeing an E30 M3, a Porsche 968 convertible, a Tesla, a new Mercedes McLaren gullwing, a Ferrari California, a Ferrari GTO and a 2009 M3 four door sedan! No more fastbacks but lots of eye candy!
And another 75 images or so can be found over on my flickr page.

      1. Thanks Lotte…that is the exact car I spotted the other day. I am still in awe of it. I looked around all day today with the hope of another glimpse of it but I was SOL!! Thanks again.

        1. Lucky! I haven't spotted one in person yet (and living in Kansas…. it could be a while). Minor trivia: Mclaren is no longer involved and its an inhouse, AMG production.

  1. Is that YOUR Comanche I spy in the corner of the Porsche 930 shot? Looks like you have a piece of plywood in the bed, welcome to the Pickup truck club, where everyone carries a random piece of wood in the bed. I Personally have two 4x2s of different lengths in the bed of my truck

    1. Yeah Chucky, I inadvertantly got a glimpse of my Comanche in that 930 shot. I, lovingly, call that piece of plywood my tonneau cover as it hides a bunch of my tools, the spare tire and floor jack. The great thing about having an old truck is that noone believes there is anything worth stealing from it! Nice catch.

  2. Nice little bit of reporting there longrooffan…..I'd ask where the all access pass came from, but then again I know better……
hopefully will need some 'homelandsecurityinformation' from you next week for the up coming events….but back to the present….
I am thinking like "Chucky" , in that the Porsche parked next to you in hopes that some 'coolness' would rub off on it……..
    good post……

  3. If I didn't know better I would swear these photos were from the Porsche track day at Miller Motorsports Park here in Utah. All of these pictures are interchangeable with the pictures I took last summer. Not complaining, still awesome! Thank you sir!
