I love the Mercedes-Benz G Wagen. At least, I think I do because I’ve never driven one. I’d prefer a downgraded nearly Mil-spec version, but that’s not the one we see prowling our streets. Friend of Hooniverse Matt Farah recently had the keys to a G63 AMG and he decided to explore the vehicle over the course of one his The Smoking Tire One Take videos.
Maybe I should keep my eyes focused on an old Defender instead…

There’s something comical about seeing something so big move so quickly.
In the Dec. issue of C&D they tested the BMW X6 M and the Mercedes-AMG GXE63 S Coupe, two sill SUV-ish 5 doors. What they lack in the U part of SUV, they make up for in the S. The 5202 lb BMW hits 60 in 3.7 seconds, brakes from 70 in 152 feet and pulls 1.01 G’s on the skid pad. The Benz isn’t far behind. Ridiculous.
That’s incredible. I have that issue sitting on a bookshelf. I’ll have to actually read it sometime.
Merc still selling these for $$$$ is like Boeing still offering the Stratocruiser as an upmarket alternative to the Dreamliner.
Just because you have the money doesn’t mean you’re smart.
This is the AMG version, so I assume it’s more like an Aero Spacelines Super Guppy.
