Recently Updated42

Continuing on with the Weekend Edition here on the Hooniverse, and I was doing a little poking around on eBay recently, and spotted these three Little Red Wagons. All three are getting rare, and they represent a style that current cars are not even offered in, the small wagon. So, does any of these import wagons make you want to own one?

Here is a 1973 Mazda RX-3 Rotary Engine Wagon, with almost 72,000 miles on the clock. This was a rare car when imported into the states in 1973, so try and find one now… According to the listing:

Very rare 1973 Mazda RX3 Station Wagon. I unfortunately have to sell my cars due to financial and time constraints. The car is registered in CA, and has a clean title. I prefer local buyers, but will ship anywhere – you must arrange for the shipper. The car runs fine – only needs a new set of tires to drive it. Please ask questions BEFORE bidding. I also have additional photos/videos if necessary.

The listing goes on to state that there has been a lot of work done to the car including the installation of a 1979 4-speed transmission from an RX-7, a Fuel Cell and a racing fuel pump. The wheels also look like they were liberated from an early RX-7 as well. With a little over a day to go until the auction ends, the top bid so far is $4,650, with an unmet reserve. So, is this wagon the one that will get your heart humming? See the listing here: [sc:ebay itemid=”251436196484″ linktext=”1973 Mazda RX-3 Rotary Wagon” ]

Before Subaru became the darling of the tuner car set with their Imprezza WRX models, they rivaled Volvo and Ford here in the states for the Wagon Sales Crown, like this 1988 Subaru GL 4WD Wagon. This was the mid level wagon during this period, between the low level DL, and the high level Turbo GL-10, but they were all basically the same body style, with basically the same interior, utilizing the same 1.8L Flat Four. The Wagon has 114,000 miles and according to the listing:

This One Owner 4X4 Beauty comes to us from Arizona, it has Automatic Transmission, Power Brakes, Power Mirrors, Power windows, Power door locks,AM / FM and Air Conditioning.

Asking price for this 4X4 Subaru is $4,400, and that is the Buy-It-Now price. Yes, it may be well cared for, and there was a lot of work done to the car, but is it really worth that much?
