Weekend Edition Quick Hit – Talk about a Time Capsule… A 1977 Ford Granada Ghia with only 7,500 miles!!!

It is the Sunday Edition of the Hooniverse Labor Day Weekend, and I thought I would start out with this extremely low mileage 1977 Ford Granada Ghia. For all of our non US readers out there, the Ford Granada that was produced on these shores was nothing like the European version, as it was nothing but a retooled US Ford Falcon (and it also shared the underpinnings of the US Ford Maverick!) complete with rear leaf springs… However, do you think this Granada is at least somewhat desirable? According to the eBay listing:

1977 Ford Granada Ghia 7,538 ORIGINAL MILES. The title is marked exempt by PA DOT due to age of the car.I have a signed affidavit swearing to the mileage. It is Dark Brown Metalic with a Tan Cloth Interior and a Split Bench front seat. 302 V8 engine, Automatic transmission. Ghia trim package, Tan Vinly Top, AM/FM, A/C, Intermittent Wipers. Original Firestone 500 tires are still on the car. New full size Firestone Spare that was never on the ground. Rear chrome mudflaps were added but can be easily removed. The front seat is protected with a fake sheepskin cover. The seat is like new underneath. The car was delivered new Nov 1, 1977 from R & J Motors, the Ford dealership in Lebanon PA. Paul drove the car sparingly as he walked to work and also had a great 49 Ford pick up. It was always kept in a heated garage. When Paul was no longer able to drive, he sold the car to his friend Al who has continued to baby the car and keep it in a heated garage. Paul is no longer with us and Al is now at the age where he is selling some of his toys. I am selling the car for him. The paint is in great original condition. The vinyl top is in great condition. The tan cloth interior will pass for new. The trunk carpet and spare look like new. The engine compartment is in good condition. We did not detail the engine to keep the original look.

As with any low mileage 37 year old car, you will have to check over the entire car for brittle hoses, gaskets that don’t seal, belts that will need to be replaced, and those tires will have to go… However, this is a time capsule peering into the depths of the Malaise Era, with chocked engines, and layers of brick-a-brat that was troweled onto cars to make them look luxurious. The buy it now price of this Granada is $7,700 which really isn’t bad at all.
