I hope you are enjoying the Weekend Edition Quick Hits, and look what is next… This is a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk, a vehicle that I just recently highlighted as an Obscure Muscle Car. This is the one and only year that a Studebaker was offered with a Packard Powerplant, and with the bespoke Packard Ultramatic Transmission. So, could you see yourself owning such an iconic Studebaker?
According to the listing:
Here is an extremely nice ’56 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Engine and transmission rebuilt, new lacquer paint (12 coats), new upholstery in matching exterior colors, chrome redone. Power windows, power seat, power brakes, power steering. Radio and heater work. No rust anywhere. Car always in California. $20,000 in receipts. 352 Packard V8 engine with an Ultramatic transmission. Transmission is fine but also included is an extra rebuilt Ultramatic transmission(these are hard to come by and expensive to have rebuilt). Runs like a dream. Registered until January 2015.
I found this listing at another Facebook Page, this time it is the Yellow Car Appreciation Society. The seller of this stellar Studebaker is asking for $20,000 (and in Cash!), which includes a spare Ultramatic. This isn’t really all that unreasonable, but what do you think? See the listing here.
