Another Hooniverse Weekend Edition for Sunday, and my luck, it is raining quite heavily here in Connecticut, so it is the perfect time ti entertain all of you, and to get my tax forms done. About those pesky taxes, you see I have the privilege of filing three different sets of forms; Federal, Connecticut, and since I worked in the state of Massachusetts during 2013, I get to file there as well. But that is my burden, and I thought I would take a break to bring you this 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 Sedan found on Craigslist. Would you call it interesting, or something else altogether?
During the mid 1960s, each of the big three automakers had three (and sometimes four) distinct sizes of their bread & butter offerings. In the case of Ford, there was the full sized Galaxie (or luxury oriented LTD), the compact Falcon, and the Fairlane, sized in between. Ford is still trying to do that today with the Taurus, Fusion, Focus, and a smaller entry in the form of the Fiesta. Only the sizes are much closer than ever before…
According to this listing, this gigantic mid-sized Ford is:
A 1966 Ford Fairlane 500, Original 65K AT PS Straight 200 CID 6cyl. All original. Interior mint. See pictures. Runs gr8!!!! Original miles title in hand. Paperwork back to the early 1980’s.
So how much for all this originality? Try $5,000, which seems to be somewhat in line for what you get. This is an honest sedan, with an inline 6, 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic, OK Rubber all around, and little to no rust, at least from the pictures provided. See the listing here, and tell me if this Fairlane in interesting, or really nothing to write home about. Now, back to the tax forms…
