Facebook can be a wonderful thing. It has the ability to transport you to far off places, connect with people you have absolutely nothing in common with, exchange information and stories about mutual interests, and is one hell of a time killer. While killing time at the Blue Car Appreciation Society, I came across this rather interesting W126 that was really never officially sold in the States. Does that make it more desirable?

Mercedes-Benz of North America brought their W126 vehicles in a variety of offerings, but they never brought one with both a Gasoline inline six, and a Manual Transmission. They also saw fit to not offer a Cloth Interior, like this particular car has. According to the KSL listing:

1982 Mercedes. One owner for 30 years. This is a very rare 5-speed manual transmission., silver mist/blue(factory paint) 280SE (the smaller classic W126 S-Class series)….AND again, the 5- speed manual transmission that you will never find! Factory built original!!!. Truly a “collector car” that has a value upwards toward $9,000.00! Fun to drive!!!

I’ve driven it back east(4000 mile trip) and she used little oil and got as high as 26 mpg. Rare vintage wheels (16×8) $1400.00 value alone!. Includes frt. seat mounted fire exten., factory first aid kit, jack, etc. and complete tool kit (all hard to find). Factory rear head rests(unusual). New anti-theft radio/cd/remote. Spare key. A one owner who at 91 yrs. old, had loved his car and done all to maintain it to the highest degree. (see below). Family let it go. I have stored car and improved on it for two yrs. with some road trips.

Get on line….do your research…no 5 speeds will be found. Rare!!! At this price, you will keep your investment for sure. New: frt. ball joints, frt. bushings, torque arms, frt. end alignment and complete inspection, value adjustment and value cover gasket, clutch fan, radiator, water pump, new hoses (2), thermostat/gasket, belts (2), power steering belt, fuel sending unit, rear brakes, air filter…all in the last 3 to 5 thousand miles. Earlier: oil and water sending units. I changed the oil/filter 2948 miles ago (6qt. system with cooler). A very pampered automobile in and out!!

The car is currently located in West Jordan Utah, and the price is a reasonable $5,240!. Yes the car has almost 155,000 miles on the clock, but that should not be a problem, right? See the listing here, and tell me what you think…
