Nothing You've Accomplished is as Cool as This: Crawler Town

By Tim Odell Feb 23, 2010

where is your god now?

Ahem:

Crawler town roams the barren wastes of a post steam-punk world after cataclysmic climate change do to excessive coal use. Several such cities exist but Crawler town is the most popular due to the Aero 500 hydrogen fuel cell Air races that are held. Many people travel the wastes to Crawler town for vacation and to enjoy rare luxuries like Pizza, fresh vegetables and Beer. Travelling the wastes in search of minerals and aquifers ( vital for survival) the mobility of the city keeps it away from the vicious sand storms of the wastes.

It’s self-powered, fully suspended and most of the mechanisms on-board are functional. Hit flickr user DeGobbi’s set for details and a good, old-fashioned mind-blowing.

  1. Absolutely incredible. Makes me want to sing.
    When global warming
And life is making you lonely,
You can always go Crawler Town
    When you've got worries,
All the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, Crawler Town
Just listen to the music of the windmills in the city
Linger in the grandstands where the rooftop gardens are pretty
    How can you lose?
The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go to
Crawler Town, things'll be great when you're in
Crawler Town, no finer bocce for sure,
Crawler Town, everything's waiting for you in
    (Crawler Town)

  2. This never would've happened if those damned fat cats over at Octan hadn't suppressed the elastic car. I've got one, and it's good for 2 MPW (meters per windup).

    1. I keep bugging the Intesedebate people to create a widget that allows us to show the top-ranked comment of the last 3 days.
That way we'd be able to highlight work like this on the frontpage.

  3. Saw this earlier today. Literally awesome. I need more Legos…
It seems like really awesome things like this have been cropping up more and more lately (on the 'net at least). Lego renaissance?

  4. Being that the first thing I thought of was a tiny land-based Sealand, I'm gonna go ahead and unimaginatively dub it "Legoland".
Well, it was that or "Land-o-Land"; give thanks.

      1. Nothing, except this one time – it didn't switch from the "Post a new comment" box on the bottom to a reply, even though I clicked it twice, and I didn't notice that there wasn't an arrow or a "Posting…" faux-button. Partly my fault, partly a one-time thing. Hasn't happened before or since, so I'm not worried.

  5. That is perfect, my son loves star wars lego and frequently bugging me over it – your posting has cleared a number of my thoughts. Time for more browsing!
