Estonians Give Russians a Run for their Kooky Snow Vehicle Money

No help here
When we think of Estonia, we think of…umm…trying to remember which one’s which between Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia when placing them on the map in northeastern Europe. That, and cyber-war. What we don’t think of are Passat monster trucks. That’s right. Jump!

    #1, yeah, it's Hoontastic.
#2, It's begging for bigger tires!!!
#3, glad they have rednecks in Estonia
#4, was that skid plate just under the bumper necessary? Is anything that tall ever gonna hit it?
#5, I even think it sounds cool.
    #6, Yeah, I wish I had it.

I see why they made it so tall. That way, when they roll it over into a ten-foot-deep drift, the rescue team will be able to find them by the tires poking out of the snow.

Call me kinda slow, but I didn't realize it was a diesel until halfway through the video, when he got stuck in the snowbank and I heard the clatter at idle. Then I noticed the black smoke, then I decided this is the most awesome thing I've seen all day. I kept waiting for it to fall over. I want one of these, NOW. It's just what I need to splash through the flooded washes here in Arizona during monsoon season.

I suspect that ain’t no 1.9tdi in there. Could it be that it’s so tall because it’s sitting on top of some large mid mounted oil burner of agricultural origins? That might also explain why it is doesn’t seem to want to tip over.

Yeah, hooning and off-roading is pretty common around here. My brother is looking into doing something similar to a mk2 Golf (though probably not make it as high).

Wouldn't it be great if VW had done something like that from the factory?

      Oh. Why, look at that.
The Golf Country. Syncro 4wd, brush bars, skid plates, and a spare wheel mounted on the back, like an early SUV's.

All it needs is knobbier tires and a small lift and it should be able to tackle quite a bit.

Somebody really needs to start importing Super Swampers into Estonia. All that body height and still poor ground clearance up to the axles. Put some 44s on there!

I'd actually pictured some kind of grille-less Eurowagon, but a B3 Passat still came as a surprise.
I've always quite liked these (and their B4 successors). I think I like this even more. It's really too tall, though – just not that much clearance; it would've been better with the body lowered somewhat. Still…
