In my neck of the woods all the McDonald’s restaurants are being rebuilt in a new – and truly mediocre – corporate design. The new architecture’s aesthetic nod to the Golden Arches of the past are as poor a reflection on those iconic elements as are the Hoffmeister Kinks of today’s BMW cars. Once, roadside easting establishments had style. Many had unique and truly iconic designs, drawing hungry motorists in seeking not just sustenance but the opportunity to say they once ate in a giant shoe, a dinosaur’s belly, or in the case of this long-gone Wilmington California establishment, a German airship. Ah, those were the days.
Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.
