It’s not a great question prompt, but it’s one that popped into my head this morning. That’s because a fire flared up a few miles from my house. Luckily for the surrounding community, it essentially went straight back up into the canyon. So no structures are currently at risk, as far as I’m aware, except for the radio towers at the top of Santiago Peak. Back to the question, though, as I currently have both a Lotus Emira and a BMW M3 CS parked out front. If the fire turned this way and you had to evacuate, which one would you save?

Both cars are 2024 model year vehicles. The Emira is a First Edition 2.0 equipped with the 2.0-liter turbo 4 borrowed from AMG. The BMW is an M3 CS with the crazy carbon fiber seats.

This Lotus is spec’d rather wonderfully with dark green paint over a tan interior. The BMW is spec’d like most modern BMWs in that it’s aggressively garish. But I will say, it drives amazingly well. So if you had to save one or the other, which one are you saving?

By the way, this is all a trick question anyway… I’d save the Montero. (Again)
