NAIAS

The North American International Auto Show is America’s car show – sort of like the Super Bowl and World Series all rolled into a single week’s worth of buy our new crap please automobilia. The show will be opening to the public tomorrow and runs through Sunday of the following weekend. Of course, as followers of this and other car sites you’ve already seen all the new there is thanks to the circus that is the media preview, and hence having to be there in person might seem anticlimactic.

Or maybe not. After all, pictures just don’t do the new ‘Vette justice, and aren’t you simply dying to see the show car that will become the next Corolla in the metal? I mean, Ermahgerd People, NISSAN VERSA NOTE!

So, before you go, or, if you’re like 90% of the nation’s population and don’t have the good fortune to live within easy driving distance of Cobo Center, what have you seen so far that really piqued your interest glands? Do you like that new Corvette? Does the small in size but not in heart and luxury Lincoln MK C concept have you crying tears of joy over that brand’s triumphant return? What NAIAS debut has you really excited?

    1. Yep, there's something very reminiscent of the '84 Civic in that, which I'm not sure gives me a car boner, but it does make me extremely nostalgic.

        1. Yeah, there's a lot of Z600, I think it's just generally a mix of different small Hondas of years gone by.
But I bring up the '84 Civic because I had one and I miss it.

      1. If they make it, I'll go directly to my nearest Honda dealer and possibly buy one if it drives nicely and has a proper transmission.

  1. My answer is 5 posts previous, where can I buy this Cadillac? What a transformation this brand has been through.

    1. Yep, ten years from being the car that even your grandparents wouldn't buy because "only old people drive those," Cadillac now has a pretty awesome lineup. I would gladly have any of the CTS models.

    1. At first I didn't like it, but it's growing on me every time I see another picture.
More importantly, I appreciate how Ford is totally screwing with GM. "You've got a new truck on display? How nice, so do we, and ours is cooler, so there."

    1. I could have benefited from a proper rundown, too, but I guess I could just google it and come up with a pretty good list. Problem is, I don't really care enough about what new cars are coming out to expend the small amount of effort it would take to do that.

    1. Most underrated car at the show. Beautiful car with an amazing engine and the right transmission. I'd love to have everyone admiring it hear it startup. A v8 would definitely be unexpected.

  2. NSX definently and the Vette of course, but I also liked the Nissan Resonance, Smart and Toyota Furia concepts

  3. I hope the new Corvette will be so much better than the outgoing model that i can pick up a C6 Grand Sport for cheap sometime in the future.
Realistically though, the Lexus IS. Not something i would have imagined saying a year ago. If it's as good as the new GS is compared to the 5-series, it'll be a credible alternative to the 3-series that might actually be decently reliable. Which means i can consider buying a used one in five years. Assuming Europe gets the 350 this time, currently it's either IS250 or IS-F.

  4. Nothing – the car show scene has been fairly uninteresting for a good while now. Understandable as car companies have been punched in the balls financially but still it doesn't make for a good auto show without true concepts, without "imagineering" if you will.

  5. Heya just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different browsers
and both show the same outcome.
