gEAR’D is Your New Morning Time Waster Game

As I sip my coffee in the morning, I typically stare at my phone and work out that morning’s Wordle, Connections, and the Crossword puzzle from the NYT app. It’s a simple way to start the day, and I enjoy doing it. I now have another “time waster” game to kickstart my mornings. It’s called gEAR’D, and it’s something I think you folks might enjoy as well.

The game serves up an exhaust note, and you have to figure out what vehicle is singing that tune. There are four options. You pick one and move on to the next. Each day consists of 6 different exhaust sounds, and you have a few seconds to listen to each one. On Fridays, the game gets harder with just one second per exhaust note sound.

The simple website was started by Dean Skinner and his son as an ode to one of their favorite things: car noises. There are no ads, no sign-up process, nothing to fill in or boxes to check before you proceed. You just hit go and start playing the game.
