If, like me, you have a bit of a love affair with all things Mercedes-Benz, then you’ve no doubt heard of Mercedes Motoring. Owner JG Francis has an obsession with classic Benz sedans, coupes, and wagons, and he scours the land looking for just the right ones to restore and sell. His machines are perfect. That’s why he can command the prices he asks… and gets. Still, he must come across a handful of beater Benzinos, right? The answer is, of course, yes. Now, one of those cars is up for sale. It’s a 1980 300TD with an oil leak, a coolant leak, non-functioning A/C, transmission issues, and paint problems. Still, this is a desirable car that commands sometimes surprising sums.
