What's new on the 2018 Subaru WRX STI

Subaru is moving its fleet on over to the Subaru Global Platform. The Impreza is there, and now so is the Crosstrek. The WRX STI, however, is not there yet. This is the fourth generation of everyones favorite road-going rally car, and it might already be getting a bit long in the tooth.
To address that, Subaru has implemented some changes for the 2018 model year. No, it’s not an update to the engine nor more power from the 2.5-liter boxer engine. That turbo mill still makes 305 horsepower.
Instead, there’s been a nip and tuck to the face, a set of upgraded brakes have been bolted in place, and the Driver’s Control Center Differential (DCCD) system has been moved to be fully electronic.
It’s still an incredibly fun car. The interior is a bit nicer thanks to the use of more refined materials, thicker glass, and better door seals.
Is it enough to move buyers hands to their wallets though? The Ford Focus RS is going away, the Golf R has a little less power, and the Audi S3 is just a little more expensive, so possibly yes. B
ut we’re all eagerly awaiting the next STI and to hear word of what sort of powerplant it will bring with it when it moves to the Subaru Global Platform.
[Disclaimer: Subaru tossed us the keys to the WRX STI and included a tank of fuelThere was no vaping in the car, but I may have worn my flat bill hat… yes I own one, I live in Orange County. The first step is admitting there’s a problem.]

It’s not *flat* flat… it’s just only bent ever so slightly.
