Video: Frenchman Guerlain Chicherit flips for MINI

mini backflip

Nailing a backflip in a car is not something one thinks about very often. Sure, Rhys Millen most likely still thinks about firing up his truck and going for another attempt. Also, the world of monster trucks has seen its share of backflips. Cars, however, are not thought of as proper tools for being flung off ramps with the intention of full nose-over-tail rotations before coming down into a drive-away landing.

That’s just changed.

French rally driver Guerlain Chicherit (and early candidate for a Hoon of the Year award, which we need to invent) hopped into a fully-prepped MINI Countryman JCW, and pointed it’s not-so-mini nose at a rather large ramp. The result… is waiting for you after the break.

  1. That's just overly-commercialized attention whoring. The totally bitchin', gigantically badass, wicked mean, obscenely awesome, high-fiving a space ape with my fin kind of commercialized attention whoring.

    1. I wanted to write that. You totally took it from me, man. Energydrinkaesthetics™ are really starting to get boring. Nobody uses a hand held cam anymore…?
And a real hoon would have done this in a Trabant.

  2. At about 0:42 – right as the first view shows the bottom of the car – makes it clear this probably isn't a prepped Mini Countryman but a tube frame with a Countryman body on it. Looks really scaffold-like under there.
Still, it's awesome, and I wouldn't expect a production car chassis to put up with that kind of stress, even if it did have a roll cage added.
@Sjalabais: This would have been horrible with a hand held cam. I can't wait for all the unwatchable shaky cam stuff to die a quick death, but it's been popular for 10+ years so I'll probably die first. 🙁
