Do you know why Ford stopped selling the compact Ranger pickup here in the States? I’m guessing it’s because guys like this kept buying them. Watch the video after the jump and see why tow straps should come with instructions – ones with lots of pictures.

Yep, that pretty much ended up exactly as you expected. I don’t know about you but I find that it’s warmly rewarding when you know something bad is going to happen – to someone else – and then it does.
It should be noted that the lede image uses a very common Hoon phrase for something about to go down, but should not be taken as an implication that alcohol was in any way involved in this mishap. I’m pretty sure it was just stupidity.

  1. i like the name of the youtube channel to which this video is posted: "Good Videos". clear and direct.

  2. It even tore the bracket off the end of the frame rail on the passenger side. Time to get the wire feed welder.

  3. Rangers are awesomely tough little trucks and that bumper would have been just a gone with any big truck doing a stupid stunt like that. IMHO

    1. My reading was that Graverobber has plenty of respect for the trucks themselves. Just that maybe Ford needs to issue a TSB for the tendency of these to develop loose nuts behind the steering wheel…

  4. The camera man says it's one of the the stupidest thing he's seen, but he was standing within a 30 foot radius of the end of a 30 foot tow strap he knew would be under tension and coming his way. Had the other bumper failed in the same way, or the strap failed even in a more controlled rescue… Bye-Bye. So it's one of the stupider things he's done, too.
