These snippets highlight some great car content from SNL

Your idea of the glory days of Saturday Night Live will certainly vary from my own. But I think we can all agree that SNL has been cranking out some comedy gems for decades now. There’s a Twitter account called SNL Snippets, which has been posting tons of great examples. I went down a rabbit hole of tweets yesterday. Along the way, I found a handful of automotive-focused bits. Do you remember the Lexon Paradox? How about the Mexican-built Adobe car? See those and more below.

This next one is threaded, but I’m sharing it for David Alan Grier’s amazing bit. He portrays Maya Angelou shilling for Pennzoil, and it’s fantastic.

One of the keys to a few of those above is undoubtedly Phil Hartman. He was an ace pitchman whenever SNL asked him to jump into that role.

If you can remember any other excellent SNL bits featuring cars or trucks, sound off below.

  1. Can’t find it online and don’t want to search too deep, afraid of what I might find, but I remember a Mercury Grand Marquis De Sade commercial.

  2. Here is a trio of ads with Jim Carrey mocking the Matthew McConaughey Lincoln commercials.
