Horsepower and Chrome, my father (pictured on my right) always been a vintage car guy, mostly old Fords. His father, my grandfather, was also a car guy, owning a handful of fast and fun cars when my dad was a youngster. Aside from my little brother (pictured on my left), nobody else in our family has ever really shown an interest in cars. We share our interest in cars, but it’s always been a bit different. I’ve branched out to take an interest in all cars, while Dad’s focus remains mostly on Mustangs and old pick-em-up trucks.
Over the weekend of the Monterey Motorsports Reunion, I invited my father out for the weekend to partake in the festivities. He was probably the inspiration and genesis of my automotive enthusiasm. We’ve never really had a conversation like this before, so it was nice to sit down for an hour and talk about his life as a young car enthusiast. He’s never been a furrin’ car guy, so it was interesting seeing him at Monterey. “Is that a Ferrari?” No, that’s a Lotus. “Is that a Ferrari?” No, that’s an Acura. “Is that a Lamborghini?” No, that’s a Ferrari.
If I can leave you with some advice, interview your parents. Talk about their past. Chances are, there’s some good history there.

    Not just parents…
I spend my workdays sitting in a truck, talking to a die-hard Mopar guy (former mechanic and body-man). The stories make work a hell of a lot more fun.

    That’s gold right there.

Bradley, how is it that you’re so much bigger than your dad and your brother?

What do I look like, a geneticist?
I am, by a good measure, the tallest person in my family. I have an uncle who is tall as well, but I’m still taller than him.
