The StanceWorks team is hard at work documenting its amazing Ferrari build at the moment. That would be the 308 getting Honda power and a bunch of other goodies. But one of the seemingly neglected members of the family is a 1931 Ford hot rod that sports massive power and wheels stolen off a LeMans race car. The old engine was toast, but now there’s a new one to be installed and it’s pumping out serious go-fast energy.
Mike at StanceWorks sourced a 5.0-liter Aluminator V8. That would be the kind of Coyote originally destined for a late-model Mustang. This one here has zero miles, as it was intended for a project but was the wrong choice. So Mike scooped it up for far less than MSRP, popped a supercharger on top, and has bolted it between those meaty front tires of his hot rod.
Those aren’t the only changes, as the rodded-out truck will get a standalone Haltech setup to control everything. Additionally, Rotiform will be supplying a fresh set of wheels. This might be the only part of this build upgrade I’m against. Not everyone can say they’re running wheels destined for a prototype race car. Still, Mike typically makes pretty awesome choices on his builds so I look forward to seeing what winds up at each corner.
That’s ridiculous…I spent this friday evening discussing with a friend how awesome (or blasphemous) it would be to electrify this one:

I’d love to commute in a brick like that, polished nameplate and all. Barely related to the above restomod, but I’d prefer that approach.
I don’t think it’d be sacrilege at all. I think it’d be cool to give something that old an EV powertrain.
EV on that would be awesome
It’s not blasphemy if you consider Studebakers roots are in electric cars.

If anything, it’s kinda retro. 😉
Wow, maybe I should slowly inch away from the “new car”-thoughts and get back to making stupid decisions. Nothing beats experience…
