Shift Happens: A Kia Stinger GT AWD in the slush

I’ve already driven the new 2018 Kia Stinger GT. That was on California roads, under the sun, in perfect conditions. Heading back east for the holidays, I wanted to see if I could spend a bit more time with the car and experience the AWD version in the cold.
You might expect that I’d do a proper review… but it’s holidays and I just wanted to see if I could get the car to slide. Spoiler alert: The damn Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ tires are better than I thought they would be. Couple that with the AWD system sending that power to the front and the result is some not-so-slidey circles in a slushy parking lot in Southern RI.
I’ve let you down, I’m sorry. But in other news, those are some damn good tires.

When you actually drive on real roads, too much grip is rarely a problem. I’m set to put a set of those Michelin Pilot Sports on one of my W124s. Grip in slippery conditions is what I’m after.

I still shop for a W124… such a great shape.

That’s partly why I/we now have six of them, (includes C124 and S124).
They must be listening, the only fully, fully optioned one, a 300E-24 has just decided that the power rear blind will stop working. It’s first fault.

MY Rover 800, on the other hand, which is rarely used, remains faultless.
But, then, it’s hardly ever used.

Hey Jeff. Nice video. Thanks. Noticed you were in Southern RI. I’m an old hoon from Cranston, and several years ago provided the graphic that is now the “Mechanics Only” t-shirt. Really!
If you and your hoon buddies in RI have get-togethers, I would love to meet up and hear your stories. I’m so old now that I don’t do much hooning myself, but I’m here at the site faithfully every day. And Hooniverse is a go-to place for me. (I voted for he rallye Ferrari for HCOTY)
If there’s a way you can contact me for private messages, please do so, or post something here that will tell me how to either give you more info, or get in touch with you.
I’ll even buy a round of beers!
