Review: 2022 Mercedes-Benz CLS450 – Time to Evolve or Exit

Have you thought about the Mercedes-Benz CLS450 in a while? It’s okay if you haven’t. I’m curious if Mercedes itself is thinking about it. The vehicle as it sits today is totally fine. But when the rest of your lineup exists in or is moving towards a zone of stellar awesome, fine doesn’t cut it.

[Disclaimer: Mercedes-Benz tossed us the keys to its CLS450 and included a tank of fuel.]

I, for one, enjoyed the sedan vs. coupé rant.

Love the review. Your daughter actually made me laugh with her gestures mimicking you. It is a pretty car but I agree overpriced and overshadowed by others.

    damn, 93k??

i loved the original CLS. a 55 is in my dream garage. it’s just a beautiful car that felt like the designers held back nothing. this generation is fine, but it feels a little more restrained. it never held my attention that well. you’re right – at this price there’s no reason to buy this over the GT 63.

I wonder what the point is of having the CLS and AMG GT (4 door), similarly the SL and AMG GT (actual coupe), and whether 90% of customers of either car would buy the other if their original choice was not available?
