On this wonderful Wagon Wednesday, let us pause for a moment and give thanks to the spirit of the Hoon.
From the lands down under, ancestral homeland of our namesake – the original Hoons, something wicked this way comes.

(*Note: The original post listed this as a Hearse, which came from the video owner’s descriptions and notes, but has had a shadow cast upon the claim. We encourage anyone with first hand knowledge proving or refuting this claim to comment. Both wagons & hearses are cool, but we like to know for sure.)

  1. It's a lovely video!
    However… hearse?
It looks to me like an AMC Ambassador SST Wagon. I suppose it could be a first-call hearse, but even then having a working back seat would be surprising.
It's very likely the whole engine was swapped out for one that doesn't mind massive supercharging, but that's not necessarily a bad thing…

    1. 100% Ambassador no Hearst action here , still nice though . Judging by what I could see and hear I'd fathom it's a bored and stroked 440 with a nice huffer ontop

    2. Allegedly, according to the limited research I did, the car's prior life was as a hearse. However all information keeps pointing back to one questionable source, so take that with a grain of salt.
Mind you, hearses do come in many forms, depending on locale and what's available. In this case, somewhere in the UK.

      Or somewhere in Ohio…

  2. I used to live in the same town as this wonderful car – I'd always been told that he inherited it from his Grandad. No idea if this is true or not.

  3. When I hit the vid and realized it was a RHD Ambassador wagon, I nearly shat myself. While AMC did make RHD knock-down kits for most of its model line right up until the ChryCo buyout, they're relatively rare. I once had a nice Australian gentleman approach me in a parking lot eager to discuss my Eagle. I told him i was a bit surprised that he knew about it, and he told me that while there are not many in downunderland, they are prized by their owners and rarely change hands without high price tags.
