There’s an obvious solution you haven’t considered: simply mount the engine behind the front seat. BOOM, Steering issue SOLVED.
Or a rope-drive steering shaft!
Good luck with house hunting! I can’t speak for the SoCal market, but when we were looking, EVERYTHING that interested us (admittedly, right at the bottom end of the freehold price range) had asbestos to deal with. I also suppose the press cars really justify a proper garage, but would anything with a driveway work as a reasonable compromise (if you had room for a shed to lock up tools, and somewhere for adequate office space)?
I also get the “I’ve made good decisions in life” thing with Range Rovers, but I’ll bet that evaporates the first time you see it drive away on a flatbed. Doesn’t mean I don’t want an older one.
With the ILX A-Spec, since it’s basically a more adult Civic Si, is it really that bad? I know a lot of the 9th gen’s issues were from cheaping out, which going for the most expensive Acura version negates a little. Also, I haven’t been completely blown away by the new Civic (what happened to the flat rear floor?), And if you’re stuck on a new car, the turbo saddles you with an auto for another year or so, the ILX is a fantastic stick right now.

The 1LE camaro will match the GT350 and the ZL1 and z28 will eat the better looking gt350r …
Still I think the z28 will get a LT1 with a hotter cam and tune to reach 525 hp…
